Menasha Macs Come Back To Defeat Denmark Devilbears

Menasha Macs trailed by as many as nine, but came back to best Denmark Devilbears on Monday, 12-10.

 

Menasha Macs collected 11 hits and Denmark Devilbears had three in the high-scoring affair.

​

Denmark Devilbears opened the scoring in the first after Hayden Konkol grounded out, scoring one run.

 

A single by Brennen Miller, a hit by a pitch, and a fielder's choice by Theo Zeidler helped Denmark Devilbears extend their early lead in the third.

​

Menasha Macs scored six runs on four hits in the top of the sixth inning. Connor Olson singled, scoring one run, Ben Johnston singled, scoring two runs, Ryan Csida singled, scoring two runs, and Colin Nigl singled, scoring one run.

​

Menasha Macs tied the game in the top of the eighth thanks to a single by Jack Anzelmo, a hit by a pitch, and a double play.

​

In the top of the ninth, Menasha Macs broke up the tie when Evan Olson doubled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Quade Thompson followed to extend the lead to 12-9.

​

Olson earned the win for Menasha Macs. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking four. Luke Miller took the loss for Denmark Devilbears. The reliever went two and one-third innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits, striking out none and walking four. Brayden Deering stepped on the hill first for Menasha Macs. The pitcher gave up three hits and nine runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking six. Gavin Rusch stepped on the mound first for Denmark Devilbears. The pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Nigl collected the save.

Menasha Macs accumulated 11 hits in the game. Johnston, Menasha Macs's number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Olson, Olson, Csida, and Johnston each drove in two runs for Menasha Macs. Nigl collected two hits for Menasha Macs in six at bats. Menasha Macs had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Olson, Thompson, and Tyler Fitzgerald led the team with two bases on balls each. Menasha Macs turned two double plays in the game.

Abe Kapinos, Miller, and Zeidler each collected one hit for Denmark Devilbears. Kapinos, Konkol, Jaycob Dittmer, Miller, and Zeidler each drove in one run for Denmark Devilbears. Jacob Kleeman led Denmark Devilbears with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Kleeman and Dittmer each stole multiple bases for Denmark Devilbears. Denmark Devilbears ran wild on the base paths, accumulating seven stolen bases for the game. Denmark Devilbears turned one double play in the game.
