Menasha Macs Stifle Appleton Legends In Shutout

Menasha Macs defeated Appleton Legends 3-0 on Wednesday at USA Sports Complex, Appleton, WI as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Owen Ripley and Hudson Ludwig each pitched for Menasha Macs in the game. Ripley induced a groundout from Anthony Weyers to get the last out.

 

Both teams were strong on the mound. Menasha Macs pitchers struck out nine, while Appleton Legends sat down three.

 

Menasha Macs got on the board in the top of the fourth inning after Jacob Coopman hit a sacrifice fly, and Colin Nigl grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

 

Ripley earned the win for Menasha Macs. The reliever allowed five hits and zero runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking three. Carson Steinbeck took the loss for Appleton Legends. The pitcher went seven innings, surrendering three runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Ludwig began the game for Menasha Macs. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none.

 

Nigl, Ayden Kanaman, and Coopman each drove in one run for Menasha Macs. Kanaman went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Menasha Macs in hits. Menasha Macs turned one double play in the game.

 

Evan Olson led Appleton Legends with two hits in two at bats. Appleton Legends were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Weyers made the most plays with nine.
